Mega Projects Unveiled for Malaysia

Malaysia is set to construct a 100-floor mega tower and a mass rail project as announced by Prime Minister Najib Razak. He said the mega projects will spur growth and help the nation to achieve developed status.

Najib, who is also the finance minister, presented a 2011 budget plan for government spending of 212 billion Malaysian Ringgit (about USD$69 billion).
Gross domestic product is projected to expand 5 percent to 6 percent in 2011 according to the Ministry of Finance’s 2010/2011 economic report.

The mega tower to be named "Warisan Merdeka" will be developed by Permodalan Nasional Bhd (Malaysia’s biggest state asset manager). in Kuala Lumpur, will be the tallest in the country once completion in
work in 2015.

The six major highways to be built in order to ease traffic congestion are:-
Ampang-Cheras-Pandan Elevated Highway,
Guthrie-Damansara Expressway,
Damansara-Petaling Jaya Highway,
Pantai Barat-Banting-Taiping Highway,
Sungai Dua-Juru Highway and
Paroi-Senawang-KLIA Highway.

Another interesting noteworthy for Klang Valley folks are the long awaited MRT.
MRT is short for Mass Rapid Transit to be in implemented beginning 2011 in the Greater KL (Klang Valley) Project.
The said project, with an estimated private investment of about RM40 billion, is expected to be fully completed by 2020.
This project is aimed to provide an efficient and also comfortable transport system, ultimately to reduce travelling time in Klang Valley.
It is said to be integrated with other transportation system such as buses and taxis.
